CHEMICAL PEEL

Chemical peels are a great way to improve the condition of skin at any age. Depending on the preparation used, the treatment offers cleansing, rejuvenating, anti-acne, regenerating, brightening, reducing blemishes, anti-wrinkle, and normalizing effects.

How do chemical peels work?

The mechanism of action of chemical peels, also known as acid peels or acids, consists of removing the outer layers of the skin in order to stimulate its natural regenerative abilities. Peelings loosen connections between skin cells, which results in exfoliation of the skin’s outer layers. Depending on the type, concentration, and pH of the preparation used, we obtain different effects. There are:

  • surface treatments – they only work within the epidermis,
  • medium deep – reach the upper layers of the dermis
  • deep – affect the deeper layers of the dermis.

Chemical exfoliation is all about removal of the outer layers of the skin that contain aesthetic defects, and stimulation of natural regeneration processes to remove problems located in the deeper layers.

How is the right peeling chosen?

Chemical peels have different compositions. Mixtures of several different exfoliating substances with specific properties that can be used in the care of a specific skin type are often created. Skin peels exist for the following types of faces:

  • acne – contain substances with cleansing, normalizing and antibacterial properties
  • mature – have a regenerating, rejuvenating and anti-wrinkle effect
  • discolorations – contain active brightening ingredients that even out skin tone and reduce discoloration
  • with no visible aesthetic problems – deeply moisturize and stimulate natural skin revitalization processes
  • teleangiectatic – gently exfoliate, at the same time protecting delicate blood vessels from damage

What are the benefits of exfoliating the skin with an acid peel?

Depending on the preparation used, we can achieve the following therapeutic effects:

  • Skin rejuvenation, reducing wrinkles, improving the density and elasticity of the skin
  • Lightening of skin or total removal of discolorations, post-sun discoloration, leveling of skin color
  • reduction of skin shine, reduction of acne eruptions
  • deep cleansing of the skin
  • moisturizing, nourishing and skin regeneration

Skin care post chemical exfoliation:

Care recommendations for people who exfoliate with chemical peels depend on the potency of the preparation used. In most cases, you should:

  • avoid scratching or additionally exfoliating the already-treated skin,
  • protect skin from the sun’s rays
  • intensively moisturize or oil skin
  • avoid aggressive care products (eg cosmetics with alcohol, creams with acids)
  • avoid intensive or invasive cosmetic and aesthetic procedures, unless they have been recommended by the specialist performing exfoliation

Chemical peel contraindications:

Contraindications (permanent and temporary):

  • active viral or bacterial infections,
  • tendency to form hypertrophic scars
  • Injury or irritation of skin around target area
